Mamba and Nadia arrived in Detroit as refugees from Burundi after years of separation and uncertainty. From recipes remembered from home, they built Baobab Fare. Then Baobab Fare became something larger; a restaurant, a gathering place, and a way to return the welcome Detroit had given them.

Their story is not simply about what they survived. It is about what they refused to let survival define.

Unbounded is about what happens when the circumstances that brought you somewhere no longer determine how far you can go.

My Corn is Blue brings us to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and to Chef Gustavo Romero. At its center is corn: heritage, memory, identity.

For Gustavo, that ingredient became the foundation of Nixta. Then Nixta became something larger; a gathering place for the community around it.

Minneapolis has been tested again and again, from the murder of George Floyd to ICE raids targeting immigrant communities. Through it all, the city changed. Nixta changed with it.

Both continued to stand.
